In July 2013, Humpty Doo Dental opened its purpose-built surgery outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, helping us to provide every service you need. We are proud to be owned, run and staffed by Territorian’s, delivering local’s comprehensive dental services at affordable prices.

We are committed to the safety and quality of care our patients receive and have undergone practice accreditation which is a process to meet a strict set of ongoing standards and gives you peace of mind.

Dr John Tesarik completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (majoring in Human Physiology) at the University of Queensland and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Dentistry at the University of Sydney in 2005. Since then he has worked in private practice, firstly in Sydney and then in Darwin. John has also completed interstate training in dental implants.

John finished his schooling in Darwin, and despite moving away for a few years to complete his education, always intended to move back home to the Territory to live. He loves the rural lifestyle and is very proud to work and live within the Humpty Doo community. John finds the challenges and variety that come with general dental practice very fulfilling and really enjoys getting to know his patients.
Outside of work, he is a keen gardener and enjoys fishing, archery, keeping fit and spending time with his young family.

Originally from the Netherlands, Dr Yvonne Huijser Van Reenen studied dentistry at the University of Groningen qualifying in 2010. After working in the Netherlands for a couple of years, Yvonne travelled to Australia with her Australian husband. After getting her qualifications recognised in Australia and passing the ADC exams, she settled down in Darwin. Darwin is now home for her and her young family.

Yvonne enjoys treating all members of the family. She treats a lot of kids and anxious patients. She enjoys getting to know her patients and build those relationships. Yvonne likes all facets of general dentistry, from root canal treatments to cosmetic treatments. She is accredited to provide treatments under General Anesthetic at the Darwin Private Hospital.

Outside of dentistry Yvonne enjoys the outdoor life Darwin has to offer. She loves camping, hiking and sailing. She tries to get her cold fix every now and then by returning home to Holland and going to the ski slopes.

LEONIE BROWN

Leonie completed her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene at Curtin University in Perth in 2008. She worked mostly with a private practice dentist who had a keen interest in dentally anxious patients. Over this time there were multiple holidays to Darwin which led to her making the move to live here in 2015.

She loves being involved in the preventive side of dentistry and changing people’s perspectives on coming to the dentist. Prevention is better than a cure as they say. With enthusiasm only a ‘dental nerd’ could have she has a passion for gum problems and is told she has a gentle touch and is very empathetic. She can often be found volunteering her time to the Dental Hygienist Association of Australia as well as furthering her dental knowledge.

Working Wednesday and Friday at Smith Street Dental and Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Humpty Doo Dental she has the best of both worlds.

Having settled down in Humpty Doo you can find her outside of the dental surgery fishing, cooking, 4WDing, swimming and exploring.
